Springview’s residential homes are supported living spaces for people with complex special needs. By understanding each of our residents, we are able to individualize each program based on age group, functioning level, and behavioural challenges. With round-the-clock access to clinical support and care, we develop a long-term strategy to help develop skills, address problem behaviours, and ultimately help our clients live happier and more fulfilling lives.
Residential Programs
Our residential programs are for people who need 24-hour support. We foster environments that focus on skill development, social inclusion, and community involvement for our clients. We operate many adult homes, meaning we can ensure people are always placed among their peer groups.
High Support Programs
Our high support programs are for people who need more intensive care and services. By maintaining a high staff-to-client ratio, we ensure that every client receives constant hands-on supervision. These programs serve those who engage in potentially dangerous behaviours towards themselves or others. The emphasis is on providing mental health care within a safe and stable environment.
Supported Independent Living
Our supported independent living programs are for adults with mild intellectual deficits or other disorders who are ready to take control of their own life. We provide guidance and support in many areas like finances and health, while still giving them freedom and agency over their lives. We help develop useful skills, healthy lifestyles, and explore other areas of potential interest.
Respite Services
Our overnight respite services are designed to give families and caregivers support and relief. Everybody needs a break sometimes. Operated within our residential care homes, our respite schedules are flexible so we can adapt to the needs of each individual client and situation.
Educational Program
Our educational program provides our clients with the support and resources they need to attend and participate in school or other similar programs. We work closely with schools and boards all across the city to ensure the success of all of our residents. If attending school is not an option for any reason, we will assess the individual’s needs and abilities to determine the best possible alternative.
What it’s like to be understood.
My child was born with a developmental delay and serious mental illness 23 years ago. During that time it was extremely difficult for our family to provide adequate care and support for them, which was hard on all of us. It was especially difficult for us to find services that could help, because our child was demonstrating aggression on a frequent basis. We found that because of this, there was a very limited amount of resources that could support them. After 20 years we were finally able to find our child a long term living arrangement with Springview.
I am incredibly grateful for the exceptional care and personalized treatment provided by Springview.
My son was diagnosed with a serious mental illness 25 years ago. During that time he was moved around several times trying to find the best care available to him. We never found the right fit for him and he deteriorated drastically and was very hard to manage resulting in frequent hospital stays and police involvement. Last August when he was at his lowest, we got a placement for him at Springview. The change in him was drastic. The care he is receiving from the staff has been life-changing for all of us but mostly importantly for my son. He is clean, well-groomed, is getting the medical attention he needs, and has programs in place to help him continue to progress.
The decision to put my son in a group home was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life; The idea of ‘complete strangers’ looking after my little boy was, frankly: Terrifying, especially given his multiple special needs.
It was not long after that these ‘total strangers’ became my sons’ family in every sense of the word. I honestly can never say enough good about Springview, their staff, their services, and what they have done for my son.
